Only day I had to work today, whoo. And I got to close with my manager, who rocks. Another whoo. Also got my review today, got a fifty-cent raise, third whoo . . . No, that's more like a HUZZAHWAHOOWHOOHOO!
Or something like that.
So, yeah, turns out I was finally Secret Shopped sometime during the previous fiscal quarter. Second part entails the cash-wrap if I'm not mistaken, so I must have done something right. Huzzah! One of my co-workers, also the one who left for Berkley, apparently nailed the first portion, which I would consider more difficult than the cashwrap; that entails getting the book for the customer and looking one up on the computer.
But I need to tone down the language. It's becoming a bad trend. Oopsie. Oh, and I need to talk slower when on the phone; sometimes people can't understand me. Not cool.
We've found a new author, Lori Levine. If you like humorous mysteries, and you're either a Californian and/or want a taste of the so-called "Californian Life," get her books: Last Writes; This Pen for Hire; and Killer Blonde . . .
Someone's filming on campus. I think it's Universal, something called Sky High where super-powered beings go to a high school that floats in space . . . Yeah, I'm not too impressed either. But I'll probably see it anyway just to suddenly jump up in the theater and scream "That's my library! Whoooo . . .!"
I think I'm done for now; goodnight.

I.
Am.
Pissed.
So I thought Batcave was a wonderful webspace provider, yes? Well, they've recently moved to a new server, deleting everything and making it my responsibility to get it all back.
And what's worse? They cut my Megs in half. That's right, I'm back to the Fifty I had in the first place with Angelfire.
So forget it. Forget it all. I'm done with the personal sites, at least for now. If you guys can't be static, why should I allow myself to go down that path again?
So, on the bright side, I guess it'll be less Internet and more personal stuff while on the computer. I really need to get rid of this habit.
So . . .
I suppose you're all wondering where I went, huh?
No, I didn't think so. But-eh, no one's come yet, I doubt anyone's gonna care now. What the freakin' heck. Let me tell my imaginary audience my story:
I'm back in school, and it's actually fun this time around. I'm only taking three classes, so the load isn't so bad. Work has also not been scheduling me as much so I can have time for school, which is great. Of course, on the flip side, this means not as much money for various things such as food, textbooks, luxuries . . . Yeah, things are looking a bit tough.
But I'm just in a pissy mood currently. Earlier today all was right with the world; I'll get through this; it's just a website.
Heck, I'm feelin' better already.
Work's been tough over the summer. People have left, people I respected, and it turns out that they weren't let go in the most honorable of ways.
In other words, they were fired. For doing stupid things. Gets me in the gut, since I love working there so much. But I've lived. New hires are in, and they're neat. The world continues to spin on its axis and rotate around the Sun.
Another left for college. God I miss her, she was awesome . . . She called the store once, to talk to my assistant manager, but I haven't heard from her since. I keep praying for her; at the very least, Toa Onewa watches over her. Yes, I got her a Bionicle toy as a parting gift. But she got other, better stuff.
Just took my first two exams in my Geography and Psychology class; I think I did relatively well; we'll have to see.
I'm done for now; goodnight.

President Talks Up Economic Leadership
The economy is getting stronger," Bush said from an outdoor stage at a family-owned company, Rain for Rent, an irrigation system business. "One of the reasons why I think we're doing so good here in America is because of the tax relief we passed, is because people have more money in their pockets."
Ah. Hah-hah. California still doesn't have a budget. And that so-called "more money in the pockets?" My mom's used it up already -- on groceries.
N.Y. City rebuffs gay couples seeking licenses
A lesbian couple, Mara Gottlieb, 33, and Camille Gonzalez, 38, were the first to be turned away, after arriving almost two hours before the clerk's office opened at 8:30 a.m. “We're disappointed, but we think it’s important for people to come here,” Gottlieb said. “We want the politicians to know that this isn’t going away.”
And nor should it. I may be straight, and my religious affiliation may look down upon gay marriages, but I don't have to. I don't have to dislike a person because of their sexual preference, and neither should this country, which is supposed to be the land of the free. If this keeps up, God only knows if "gay" and "straight" bathrooms will pop up -- Lord forbid please.

I voted today. That's always a fun and enlightening experience. It looks like Kerry's gonna be the Democratic running for president. As long as we get Bush outtah there.
I trashed every single one'f the Props, and even Measure R. With the sorry state we're currently in, there's no way I'm gonna okay any sort'f tax increases, and what the heck would forcing our state legislature to keep in session 'til they develop a budget do? Absolutely nothing. And apparently LAUSD hasn't yet finished using previous funds for spiffy bathrooms in corporate from the last two measures, and now they want another? And property taxes skyrocket each time? We are in so much need of financial help right now.
On a possibly lighter note, I finished The Remnant, book ten of the Left Behind series. I quickly snagged Armageddon, and I believe I'm already one-hundred pages into the thing. One of my coworkers claims that I'll be a sobbing mess by the time I'm though with it, so I've deicded to keep this one at home, so I can weep in private. In the meantime, Can't Shove a Great Life into a Small Dream is in dah bag.
I've finally gotten into the strips, too. Mainly sci-fi novels, but there's some general FICT in there too. Orphans of Earth is pretty interesting, but a bit difficult to understand at first; of course, since it was the second book and I had never touched the first, I think such confusion would be typical.
Finally went to get assessed for ADHD last Monday. Turns out I have OCD more than ADD/ADHD, but they're all intertwined anyway. I'm on Prozac now, and apparently it's helping. I'm able to relax myself more efficiently, and my mom says I haven't been scratching my face as frequently. Certainly that's gottah be an improvement.
The day I was assessed was also a day I had been scheduled to come in. Problem was, though, I had called them at least three weeks in advance to let them know I wouldn't be available. But mistakes happen, eh? Anyway, we all agreed that if I could come in I would, and I kindah figured I'd be able to. I already knew I was messed in the head, so what would be the difference of someone actually confirming it?
Actually, there's quite a difference. So I decided to not go into work that day. My assistant manager didn't sound to happy about that over the phone, but dude, this's a matter of mental well-being.
So I got lunch at a nearby Sharky's (AWESHOME Mexican), and Mom 'n' I talked the entire time. Man that was nice. I hope we do that more often.
Anyway, the next time I came in to the store, the first thing my assistant manager did was apologize to me. "I wasn't sensitive to your needs, that was rude of me, and I'm sorry."
This coming from who I consider the most intimidating of my little circle of coworkers and employers.
Yet another reason why I love my job.

Calif. to Seek Same-Sex Marriage Ruling
I liked this:
"Mayor Newsom is upholding the state constitution, which explicitly outlaws discrimination of any kind," spokesman Peter Ragone said. "We believe the city's actions are both lawful and a recognition of the love that many couples share.
"The bottom line is the legal process is working and those who would suggest otherwise do so only for political gain. We believe we are upholding the constitution. Others may disagree. We look forward to the court's ruling."
Thank God for Democrats! We're not a theocracy, we're a democracy. Civil disobedience!
This made me laugh:
On Sunday, Schwarzenegger said he was worried about the potential for violence because of the controversial marriages.
"All of a sudden we see riots and we see protests and we see people clashing. The next thing we know is there's injured or there's dead people," he said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Ah. Hah-hah. I can't believe how uneloquent this man is. I want him out of office. I want him out right now. He doesn't know what the fanzer he's doing. And he thinks he can run for president? He thinks judges aren't upholding the law when they allow gay marraiges to continue in San-Fran. It's called Civil Disobedience you idiot! Go read a middle school US history textbook! Look up Thomas Paine and Henry David Thoreau!
I, personally, don't see riots happening over this. I see non-violent rallies on the legislature.
